The topping out ceremony for the new adult psychiatric clinic replacement building, designed by Nickl & Partner Architekten , took place at the Saxonian Hospital in Arnsdorf on 28 November 2016. Guests included Barbara Klepsch, Minister for Social Affairs and Consumer Protection, and Volker Kylau, head of the construction and property policy division in the finance ministry, who represented Finance Minister Prof. Dr Georg Unland at the celebration.
Volker Kylau began the festivities with an opening address in which he expressed his pleasure over the success of mainly regional firms in the award of contracts. Barbara Klepsch, Saxon State Minister for Social Affairs and Consumer Protection, also emphasised that “the new construction and subsequent renovation of the Elfriede Lohse-Wächtler building will improve both the conditions for patient care and working conditions for staff.”
The new building and the neighbouring structure, which remains to be renovated, will form the “Centre for Mental Health”. The adult psychiatric clinic combines an emergency department and crisis intervention centre with seven, primarily open, psychiatric wards.
