GERMAN DESIGN AWARDS 2024 – Recognition for the BSS Laboratory and Research Building
We are proud to announce that the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (BSS) has received the German Design Award 2024 in the Excellent Architecture category.
The new building makes a visual statement on the Schällemätteli science campus of ETH Zurich in Basel. The building’s polygonal facets harmonize with the urban complexity of the surroundings, while the light-filled atrium creates a seamless connection between the street and the campus. The laboratory zones feature an ideal and flexible spatial concept.
The German Design Council jury praised the project as “a representative statement that iconically unites the demands of science and advanced high-tech with openness and transparency.”
We thank the jury for this honour and are delighted with the successful implementation of this groundbreaking project!
