Official Opening of the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), Tübingen
Johanna Wanka, Federal Minister of Education and Research, and Theresia Bauer, her counterpart from the State of Baden-Württemberg, officially opened the new German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Tübingen on 27 January 2016. Nickl & Partner Architekten designed the new centre.
Up to 150 scientists can work and conduct research in the new building. The researchers are involved with diseases of ageing brains, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. At DZNE, they are developing strategies for recognising, avoiding and treating these illnesses in the future.
The third construction phase of the “Neurosciences Campus” – the new German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) building – forms the urban development prelude for the hospital area on Tübingen’s Schnarrenberg Hill.
