Nickl & Partner Architekten AG was awarded 2nd place in the competition for the new Centre for Transnational Medicine building in Bern!
The Swiss Centre for Transnational Medicine forms the new entrance portal for the Inselspital site. Under the guiding principle of “Synergies”, alternating laboratory and work areas generate an open, modern building concept that promotes innovative operational processes and exchange between individual disciplines.
As a high-performance medical centre and science facility, complex interactions characterise the Insel site. The importance of the location, interaction with the existing and planned context and the position within the city resulted in the conscious decision for an urban development volume that mediates between the old town of Bern and the new centre.
The jury emphasized the “convincing functionality and design of the surroundings” as well as the “excellent understanding of the programme” demonstrated by the design. The Sitec project represented an “expressive, functionally viable and appealing solution approach”.
We are delighted by the award of 2nd place and further success with a competition in Switzerland!
