A new Centre for Mental Health is being built at the Saxonian Hospital in Arnsdorf. The complex, consisting of a new building and a renovated existing structure, has been designed by Nickl & Partner Architekten and will be completed by 2021. On 10 March 2016 the cornerstone for the new building was laid in the presence of Volker Kylau, head of the construction and property policy division of the Saxonian State Ministry of Finance.
Buildings B4N and B3, the so-called Elfriede-Lohse-Wächtler-Haus, will form an ensemble which accommodates the new Centre for Mental Health comprising the central admissions desk as well as a centre for acute admissions and crisis interventions and seven (mostly open) psychiatric wards. Building B3 will be renovated in accordance with conservation guidelines and optimised for accommodating and treating geriatric patients.
