With the ceremonial groundbreaking on March 10, 2025, construction begins on the Center for Digitally Connected Production (CdvP) at RWTH Aachen—a project that marks a significant milestone for research and development in networked production at the intersection of digitalization and manufacturing. This highly flexible and collaborative research facility is designed to foster interdisciplinary cooperation at the highest level.
The celebration was attended by NRW Minister of Economic Affairs Mona Neubaur, RWTH Rector Professor Ulrich Rüdiger, Professor Thomas Bergs, RWTH Chancellor Manfred Nettekoven, Regional President Dr. Thomas Wilk, District Councilor Dr. Tim Grüttemeier, Aachen’s Mayor Sibylle Keupen, and Stefan Bötel from Nickl & Partner Architects.
With €107 million in structural funding for the Rhenish mining region, the project is supported by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the federal government.
The CdvP is structured into three distinct sections: a state-of-the-art workshop hall, a functional office block, and a glass atrium serving as the central hub. Flexibly designed production spaces allow for dynamic adaptation to changing requirements. The façade design reflects technological innovation while seamlessly integrating the building into the RWTH campus.
We are proud to be part of this forward-thinking project and look forward to working with our partners to bring the next construction phases to life!
