The Düsseldorf office of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Construction and Property Division (BLB NRW) celebrated the topping out of new construction at the University of Applied Sciences, Düsseldorf on June 30. The speakers were State Secretary Michael von der Mühlen, University President Prof. Dr Brigitte Grass, Lord Mayor Dirk Elbers, Architect Gerhard Eckl from Nickl & Partner Architekten AG and Dr Reginbert Taube from BLB NRW.
State Secretary Michael von der Mühlen said, “The new university construction, now emerging on this campus for all to see, is a significant milestone in the history of Düsseldorf. For the region and beyond, it is an important building block for the future of our state.”
The campus, between Münsterstrasse, Rather Strasse and the newly created Toulouser Allee, covers 47,700 sq. m. The 32,000 sq. m single-storey garage beneath the site forms the basement level and has more than 1,000 parking spaces.
Nickl & Partner Architekten AG has undertaken general planning in collaboration with Pfefferkorn-Ingenieure and INOVIS Ingenieure. They formed the Derendorf Campus Consortium for this project.
