Management in intensive care medicine – leadership, organization, planning and control

Stefan Kluge (Ed.) | Gernot Marx (Ed.) | Uwe Janssens (Ed.) | Kai Zacharowski (Ed.)

There are special medical and organizational requirements for intensive care medicine. The spectrum of therapy and treatment methods requires cooperative and interdisciplinary collaboration. At the same time, an intensive care unit can only work successfully if the required organizational, logistical and personnel requirements are created and standardized medical processes with functioning interfaces are established.

The requirements placed on management staff in intensive care medicine are no longer reduced to optimal patient care. Good management in intensive care medicine also requires a broad spectrum of leadership skills, business knowledge and, last but not least, optimal planning and control of the often scarce resources of personnel, space, time and financial resources.

The contribution by Nickl & Partner Architects explicitly deals with the structural requirements of the intensive care unit and the associated architectural concepts.
