The new building at the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin (ukb) has been awarded a recognition for outstanding healthcare buildings.
This year, the AKG Prize was awarded for the fourth time, honouring outstanding architectural projects in the field of healthcare and hospital architecture. The jury of the Architekten für Krankenhausbau und Gesundheitswesen e.V. (AKG) chose this year’s prize winners from a total of 14 entries.
In this context, our project of the new rehabilitation clinic at the UKB was awarded a recognition. The new building provides space for 151 beds for the integrative rehabilitation, respiratory weaning, neurological rehabilitation and sports medicine units on a floor space of over 21,000 square metres. In terms of design, the rehabilitation clinic is characterised by its classical formal language, which fits in respectfully with the listed campus buildings. For more information about this project, see our project page.
The AKG Prize is awarded annually to recognise architectural achievements that stand out in maintaining, safeguarding and promoting the quality of current and future building tasks, while meeting the requirements of functionality and attention to detail in a distinctive way. This year’s award ceremony and project presentation will take place on 16 November 2022 on the occasion of the 45th German Hospital Day at MEDICA in Düsseldorf.
We are very happy about this award for our project!
