Nickl & Partner are currently planning a laboratory building for the Jülich Research Center in addition to a PET center and a building segment with radioactive control areas. Both the structure of existing buildings and that of a new neighbouring construction have been taken into account when determining the design of the new PET center, with the intention of creating a peaceful image in heterogeneous surroundings.
The outdoor spaces recently created by the new building serve as communication and access routes and offer green oases to patients and staff alike. The building is composed of one compact element and one more slender form. It is connected to a patients’ wing via a bridge-like construction. The more compact part of the building accommodates the radioactive control section with its associated functions and technical logistics.
The planned laboratory construction will house all laboratories where non-radioactive materials are to be processed.

Completion: October 2012
