The Research Building for Integrative Neurosciences (CIN) is the third phase of building activities initiated in 2001 to expand Tübingen University on the Oberer Schnarrenberg site. The Research and Multi-use Building (FVG), designed by Nickl & Partner Architekten and built in the first construction phase, is now complemented by the new Research Building for Integrative Neurosciences. Future construction of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), also designed by Nickl & Partner Architekten, will complete this urban development. Erected on the relatively steep slope of the Schnarrenberg, a campus-like courtyard, with a two-storey, terraced link under it, connects both buildings. Inside the elongated institute building, offices are oriented toward the south and the well-equipped laboratories toward the north. The circulation area between them and the central, communal spaces are a public meeting place for communication.
